Germany’s Office for the Protection of the Constitution as an Instrument for Character Assassination
Although the OPC is not authorized to use criminal means to
accomplish its task, the limitation is more technical than real.
Outside the special license granted the intelligence services,
surveillance of a person's phone conversations without his consent,
entrapment of an individual, and other above-mentioned activities are
criminal acts under the German penal code. They constitute a serious
violation of individual privacy, at least from the point of view of the
person concerned. In addition, numerous incidents over the decades show
that the OPC is not content with even its privileged authority, but has
acted as it pleased, with no regard for legality.
Of course, you may not be aware if such means are being used
against you. You may only feel the chill of knowing that your life has
come under scrutiny.
