Intolerance & Discrimination Against the Scientology Community in Germany Today![]()
Condemnations by Independent Bodies
Similar condemnations have been issued by other independent bodies, including the United Nations Human Rights Committee, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Religious Intolerance, the Rutherford Institute, and the Helsinki Commission. More than ten separate reports have been issued which document the ongoing discrimination against religious and ethnic minorities in Germany today.
Considering its past, freedom of religion should be respected in Germany more than any other country in the world. And tolerance of religious thought should be at the top of the agenda for any German politician.
That it is not is the subject of the compilation which follows.
German government officials, many of whom have been responsible for perpetuating these abuses, have refused to respond in any way to the charges of wrongdoing other than to issue bald denials. This view, however, does not comport with the truth.
Thus, this reference work is provided. It contains a list of several hundred documented instances of discrimination against Scientologists in Germany today. While representative, it is certainly not exhaustive. When a government commits a significant portion of its energies to a campaign of ostracism against a selected minority, the ripple effect creates thousands of such incidents, both major and minor, many of which are never heard of. Those that made it into this book did so because the Scientologists involved took the trouble to make their experiences known.
Their stories are the consequence of the hatred incited by a government which, considering its past, should be the most vigilant at protecting the rights of minorities. ![]()
